The Hungarian Rectors’ Conference held a joint conference with Milton Friedman University on competitive institutional models in higher education
The conference titled “Competitive Institutional Models in Hungarian Higher Education,” celebrating the 25th anniversary of Milton Friedman University, was opened by Béla Merkely, President of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference and Rector of Semmelweis University. In his presentation, he spoke about the benefits of structural developments in recent years and the success of the model transformation at Semmelweis University. Representing the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference, Tamás Sterbenz, President of the Model-Changing Section and Rector of the Hungarian University of Sports Science, presented the TF model. The plenary session concluded with a presentation by the host institution’s rector, Krisztina Schottner, who introduced the history of Milton Friedman University.
The presentations were followed by a panel discussion moderated by Zoltán Dubéczi, Secretary General of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference. Participants included Zita Horváth, Vice President of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference and Rector of the University of Miskolc; Géza Kuminetz, President of the Religious Section of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference and Rector of Pázmány Péter Catholic University; and Enikő Sepsi, Co-Chair of the Model-Changing Section of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference and Rector of the University of Theatre and Film Arts. They highlighted the operational characteristics of different institutional governance models.
Following the conference, Milton Friedman University hosted the meeting of the Religious Section of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference.
