The 1st Egyptian-Hungarian Rectors' Forum was held in Cairo on March 3rd, 2024

The 1st Egyptian-Hungarian Rectors' Forum was organized with the attendance of Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research and János Csák, Minister of Culture and Innovation, in Cairo on 3 March 2024.

In addition to Minister János Csák, the Hungarian higher education sector was represented at the Forum by a delegation of 16 Hungarian Rectors' Conference members, led by Minister Prof. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, who were received by the Supreme Council of Universities and the rectors of 17 Egyptian higher education institutions. Following the ministerial greetings, Prof. Yasser Refat, Deputy Minister of Scientific Research and Dr. László Borhy, President of the HRC, welcomed the participants.

The panel was opened by a lecture by Prof. Mostafa Rifat, Secretary General of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities, followed by a presentation by Dr. Zoltán Dubéczi, Secretary General of the Hungarian Rectors' Conference, who introduced the Hungarian higher education system and the role of the Hungarian Rectors' Conference. The presentations and discussion sessions focused on the universities and higher education sectors represented, as well as on research cooperation opportunities. At the end of the professional programme, the University of Debrecen and Mansoura University signed a cooperation agreement on agricultural science courses.

A delegation of representatives from the Budapest Metropolitan University, University of Debrecen, University of Dunaújváros, Eötvös Loránd University, Hungarian University of Physical Education and Sports Sciences, National University of Public Service, University of Sopron, University of Szeged, Széchenyi István University, University of Pécs and University of Óbuda continued to discuss cooperation opportunities during the visits to the universities on the next day. During the visits to Benha National University, Future University, European University in Egypt and Ain Shams University the participants identified the potential for developing cooperation in in the field of water management, in addition to agricultural sciences.

After the forum, the Ministers of Higher Education of the two countries were received by the Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mostafa Madbouly, accompanied by the delegation from HRC.
