HRC’s 2024 Summer Camp: Fostering Connections and Cultural Exchange for Transcarpathian Students

As part of its commitment to social responsibility, in 2024 the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference (HRC) once again organized a summer camp for students from Transcarpathia. This year's programme for the delegation from Ukraine took place between 7-13 July. The camp was attended by students from two scientific groups of the Ferenc Rákóczi II Transcarpathian Hungarian College of Higher Education, the Ferenc Kölcsey College for Advanced Studies and the Ilona Zrínyi Transcarpathian Hungarian College for Advanced Studies, accompanied by a teacher and three other colleagues.

During the one-week programme, the students participated in activities organized by the University of Sopron, including visits to the Esterházy Palace Forestry Museum, the Forest House Ecotourism Visitor Centre, and a walk in the Botanical Garden. Following their visit to Sopron, they joined the lectures of the annual Carpathian Basin Summer University of Eötvös Loránd University (ELTE) in Budapest and explored the landmarks of the capital.

The HRC organized specialized lectures for the students with the assistance of the faculty of Széchenyi István University of Győr. During this time, representatives of the two institutions had the opportunity to strengthen their connections. The students toured the attractions of Győr and visited the Pannonhalma Abbey alongside representatives from Széchenyi István University. The camp concluded with a visit to the Royal Castle of Gödöllő, made possible through the support of the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

We extend our gratitude to our co-organizing member institutions: the University of Sopron, ELTE, Széchenyi István University, and the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences for their invaluable help and support in preparing these programmes.
