The HRC Committee on Cross-border Higher Education Institutions met again as part of ELTE’s Carpathian Basin Summer University
On July 28, 2026, the HRC Committee on Cross-border Higher Education Institutions met once again, as is traditional, in conjunction with ELTE’s Carpathian Basin Summer University. Higher education leaders from numerous institutions beyond the border discussed current issues in Hungarian-language higher education across all relevant regions: they reported on their latest successes and enrollment figures, and also raised problems awaiting resolution.
At the meeting, participants also reviewed current issues regarding cooperation among Hungarian higher education institutions in the Carpathian Basin, discussed opportunities for implementing joint educational and research projects, as well as practical experiences and further development opportunities regarding cooperation with government agencies and organizations supporting international higher education cooperation.
The event, which traditionally takes place in mid-summer, was followed by consultations with government representatives. This year’s event proved to be exceptionally successful, and Dr. István Kollai, Deputy State Secretary for Matters Concerning Hungarians Abroad at the Ministry of Social Relations and Culture, promised solutions to numerous issues raised.
