MRK delegation to China in October 2024
The Hungarian Rectors' Conference and Eötvös Loránd University arranged a joint delegation to the People's Republic of China led by President László Borhy, visiting Shanghai, Hangzhou and Beijing.
In the framework of the fruitful one-week programme, the Hungarian university leaders first attended a meeting with the President and leaders of Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, and then visited Fudan University, where ELTE signed a cooperation agreement on the launch of a joint course. After the signing ceremony and forum, which was attended by 5 other universities in Shanghai, the delegation had the opportunity to learn about the work of the Institute for Preservation and Conservation of Chinese Ancient Books at Fudan University, to see the lithography techniques in practice and to visit another research institute to learn about the research of a new industrial raw material. The university tour ended at the Shanghai Institute of Intelligent Electronics & Systems.
Following the days in Shanghai, the university leaders travelled to Beijing, where, in addition to cultural activities, the group attended a university forum arranged by Beijing Foreign Studies University. In addition to the discussions organized by five major higher education institutions, the Beijing meeting also included ones organized by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation, where the future of Chinese language education was discussed.
During the trip, contacts were made with a number of Chinese universities and concrete agreements were also reached, which will lead to further exchanges in the future.
