HRC colleagues participated in the 3rd Peer Learning Activity of the Teacher Acquisition Project

Two representatives of the Hungarian Rectors’ Conference (HRC) participated in the third Peer Learning Activity (PLA) of the Supporting experienced professionals in accessing the teaching profession in vocational education and training (Teacher Acquisition) project, held in Kaunas, Lithuania, on 9–10 April 2025.

Organized by the European Federation of Education Employers (EFEE), the event gathered international and local experts to explore project outcomes such as the curriculum proposal, guidelines for school leaders, and policy recommendations aimed at attracting experienced professionals into the VET teaching profession. The program featured interactive discussions, national case studies, and a site visit to the Karalius Mindaugas Vocational Training Centre.

A particularly insightful session focused on the Danish model, where VET schools collaborate closely with social partners to define curricula. There, professionals complete a two-year BA in education on top of their VET qualification and bring at least five years of work experience from industry, ensuring a strong link between teaching and real-world practice. In contrast, Ireland offers a more flexible system — there, individuals can become VET trainers without needing additional teaching qualifications beyond their professional background.

The PLA provided valuable opportunities for knowledge exchange and highlighted various national approaches to strengthening the VET teacher workforce.
