H.E. Yoav Kisch, Israeli Minister of Education, received by Dr. Béla Merkely
Dr. Béla Merkely, President of the Hungarian Rectors' Conference (HRC), welcomed H.E. Yoav Kisch, Israeli Minister of Education, and Dr. Maya Lugassi, Executive Director of the Council for Higher Education and the Planning and Budgeting Committee, accompanied by a 10-member expert delegation, at Semmelweis University on 29 October 2025. The meeting was also attended by H.E. Maya Kadosh, Israeli Ambassador to Budapest, and Moran Birman, Deputy Ambassador, representing Israel, while the Hungarian higher education sector was represented by the leaders of Semmelweis University, as well as delegates from the Ludovika University of Public Service and the University of Theatre and Film Arts.
The participants in the meeting mutually confirmed the two countries' intention to intensify cooperation in the areas of student and teacher mobility and innovative research. The participants agreed that new platforms for cooperation need to be created in view of the similar challenges facing the higher education sectors of the two countries.
The program concluded with a presentation of the soon-to-be-opened building of Semmelweis University's Városmajor Heart and Vascular Clinic.
