Debating Skills - Student Debating Competition Preparatory Day 2024
On May 25, 2024, the Preparatory Day of the Debating Skills - Student Debating Competition in Hungarian was held at the ELTE Radnóti Miklós Elementary and Secondary Practice School. In the framework of the programme, the participating teams of three students competed on various topics such as environmental protection, contemporary social issues and other EU policy issues.
After two full rounds of debates, two teams were shortlisted for the final round, which was won by the 11th grade team from Europa 2000 High School.
The aim of the Preparatory Day was to give interested students and their teachers a better understanding of the culture of debating, and to allow them to test themselves in Hungarian before the national tournament. The national round of the Debating Skills - Student Debate Competition will be held on the 23rd of November 2024 in English. The winning team of the Hungarian national round of the Debating Skills - Student Debate Competition will represent our country in the international round in Brussels in April 2025, which will also be organized in English.
The project, which includes teacher training, is implemented through the Portuguese CEPCEP (The Research Centre on Peoples and Cultures of Universidade Católica Portuguesa) with the support of Porticus Iberia.
The MRK Connexus Mobility Foundation is a consortium partner of the Association of Foundation and Private Schools and the Association of Practice Schools in the implementation of the debate project and the professional programme.
