Cooperation agreement signed by Dr. Béla Merkely, President of the Hungarian Rectors' Conference, and Dr. Miglena Temelkova, President of the Bulgarian Rectors' Council
The Bulgarian-Hungarian Higher Education Professionals' Day was held on 15 October 2025, as part of the Bulgarian-Hungarian Economic and Cooperation Forum organised by the Bács-Kiskun County Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the Johnn von Neumann University in Kecskemét. At the event, Dr. Béla Merkely, President of the Hungarian Rectors' Conference (HRC), welcomed Dr. Miglena Temelkova, President of the Bulgarian Rectors' Council, in Budapest on 14 October 2025. At the meeting, the presidents of the two organisations signed a cooperation agreement aimed at strengthening relations between universities in the two countries in the areas of teacher and student mobility and research.
The Professionals' Day on Wednesday was opened by Dr. Tamás Fülöp, President of the John von Neumann University, and Dr. Miglena Temelkova, President of the Bulgarian Rectors' Council. Dr. Zoltán Dubéczi, Secretary General of the Hungarian Rectors' Conference, gave a presentation as part of the higher education section. In addition to the internationalisation aspects of the Bulgarian relationship, he also presented the development processes that have taken place in Hungarian higher education in recent years, which were received with great interest by the Bulgarian participants.
